Read the Question Pool

The FCC publishes the complete question pool for every license class — every question that could appear on your exam, word for word, along with all four answer choices. These pages let you browse that pool directly, section by section.

Correct Answers Only — Ham Cram Style

Best for rapid memorization, last-minute prep, or a single-day cram

Recommended

Ham Crams are one-day study events run by radio clubs across the country where complete beginners walk in and walk out licensed — often with pass rates above 80%. The technique they rely on is simple: show every question in the pool paired with only the correct answer, cycle through the whole pool multiple times, and let recognition memory do the work. No distractors, no wrong answers to accidentally memorize.

The FCC exam draws its questions verbatim from the published pool, so pure recognition is all you need to pass. This format mirrors exactly how Ham Crams work: question, then the one right answer. Read through a section, then read it again. Most people find they can cover the entire Technician pool in a few focused hours.

All Four Answers Shown

Better for understanding the material or studying alongside a guide

Each question is displayed with all four answer choices, with the correct answer called out at the bottom. This format is useful if you want to study alongside a textbook or license manual, see how the wrong answers are phrased (which can itself be instructive), or simply prefer having the full context visible as you read.

Question counts are approximate. Pools are updated periodically by the ARRL Question Pool Committee.
